GENERAL INFO: French Polynesia includes Tahiti and Her Islands of Bora Bora, Moorea, Tahaa, Huahine, Rangiroa to name a few. From the pink sands of the Tuamotu Archipelago to the majestic Mt. Ote Manu of Bora Bora in the Society Archipelago, her beauty abounds. Tahiti lies in the South Pacific, in the same time zone as Hawaii, south of the equator and only 7-1/2 hours from Los Angeles, with non-stop flights leaving nearly every day. There are 118 islands and atolls that comprise the country of Tahiti and Her Islands. The islands are sprinkled over 1-1/2 million square miles of ocean in the South Pacific. Tahiti and Her Islands are divided into five island groups, or archipelagoes. The islands are fringed by astonishing turquoise waters and when you are snorkeling or scuba diving, champagne sailing or on a jet ski expedition, picnicking on your own Motu (islet) or on a Dolphin Excursion, being on these waters is a dream come true.CLIMATE: The temperatures average about 79 degrees (F) year around, both the air temperature and the water temperature. Tahiti and Her Islands are a tropical destination blessed with lots of sun and enough rain to keep the waterfalls flowing and the flowers blooming! Cooled by the gentle breezes of the South Pacific, the climate is ideal. Summer is from November through April, when the climate is slightly warmer and more humid. Winter is from May through October when the climate is slightly cooler and drier.

Oral history recounts the adventures of gods and warriors in colorful legends where javelin throwing was the sport of the gods, surf riding was favored by the kings, and Aito strongmen competed in outrigger canoe races and stone lifting as a show of pure strength.
